It comes from a genetic hybridization of Nebbiolo and Barbera created by Prof. Giovanni Dalmasso in 1938 and never put into production.
At the end of the 1990s we and another three producer friends rediscovered this hybrid and decided to carry out further research, together with Turin University, by planting an experimental vineyard of 5000 rootstocks.
Given the extraordinarily positive outcome, we then planted 4 hectares of Albarossa in the splendid amphitheatre of our La Serra estate in Montaldo Scarampi, with truly surprising results.
